What the tracker records
The tracker stores the item name and the exact date a user enters. It does not invent an expiry date, score safety, or infer storage conditions.
How we describe labels
We follow USDA guidance that common phrases such as “Best if Used By,” “Sell-By,” and many “Use-By” dates generally describe quality or inventory management rather than a universal safety deadline. Infant formula and jurisdiction-specific requirements need separate treatment.
Safety boundary
Temperature, time, handling, food type, package condition, recalls, and individual health risk can all matter. When those facts are uncertain, consult current official guidance and use appropriate caution.
